The Walker Stalker Con's well-oiled machine sets the bar high

Downtown Atlanta was swarmed with zombies, fans, and celebrities over the post-Halloween weekend for the first Walker Stalker Con.

Organized by the owners of The Walker Stalkers podcast Eric Nordhoff and James Frazier it brought the fans of their podcast and The Walking Dead television show together for a weekend of undead fun and joy.

The convention featured celebrity guests from The Walking Dead, Face Off, Halloween and more. Celebrities like Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Scott Wilson, RJ Haddy, Roy Wooley, Danielle Harris, Zach Galligan, and many more signed autographs, took photos, and held panels for fans to have the chance to ask questions.

One of the main draws for the fans at the con was the Andrew Lincoln panel on Saturday. Being the main character on The Walking Dead, Lincoln drew a large crowd to his panel but also he does not make many appearances at conventions. While talking at the panel he stated that one reason he was at the convention is because he wanted to give back to the Georgia community because they give so much to him. One fan surprised him at the end of his panel with a dream catcher as a gift, which seemed fitting after he gave a short talk about his nightmares of forgetting his lines.

Later Saturday night there was the concert put on by Emily Kinney, also a member of The Walking Dead cast. Following the concert was the Zombie Bash, a party where if you have ever wanted to dance with the dead then you were in the right place.

Along with the panels, the autographs, the dancing, and the photo sessions, there was the convention floor that housed the vendors. If you were looking for toys, clothing, or anything that had to do with the dead then it was there on the floor being sold. While looking for an exclusive figure you had to traverse the numerous fans in bloody cosplay. From people dressed like their favorite characters on the show, hordes of zombies, an undead clown, and many more you were sure to see very elaborate costumes at every turn.

For a first time convention the organizers hosted a well-oiled machine. Pathways were open for everyone to walk around, the floor plan made it easy to find things, and the lines for the autographs where out of the way where everyone could stand in peace while those wanting to walk around were able to avoid getting stuck. The Walker Stalker Con was a big success for its’ first appearance and I am looking forward to next year.
