Blu-Ray Bay

If you’re a fan of the romcom then you’re probably going to want to see this if you haven’t already. A little bit edgy (for that time and place), absolutely hilarious, and filled with chemistry between it’s two leads. Pillow Talk has never looked or sounded better.

PICTURE AND AUDIO QUALITY:

Blu-Ray is a fickle medium. Sometimes you can run across a classic film that isn’t too old, like The Color Purple, and walk away shaking your head that the transfer just didn’t look good at all. Then you come across a film like Pillow Talk, released in 1959, and you couldn’t be happier with how the transfer took. Have no doubt though that Pillow Talk looks absolutely fantastic on Blu-Ray. It’s saturated Technicolor vibrancy is all the more vibrant, definition boosted to give even the most minute detail a glorious upgrade, and clarity is only slightly muddled by small grain disturbances. Audio is just as great with a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono Mix that gives deep resonating output to the musical numbers, especially in Rock Hudson’s deep voice, and allows for dialogue to reach your ears in pristine condition. While I’m hardly a fan of Universal when it comes to their BD transfers I have to hand it to them with Pillow Talk. Magnificent.

BONUS FEATURES:
~Back In Bed With Pillow Talk: Actually a pretty interesting look at the time in which the film was released. If you watch just one bonus feature make it this one.
~Chemistry 101 - The Film Duo Of Doris Day and Rock Hudson
~Feature Commentary with Film Historians Jeff Bond, Julie Kirgo and Nick Redman.
~100 Years of Universal - Restoring The Classics: This and the next two special features have actually been featured on other 100th Anniversary Universal releases.
~100 Years of Universal - The Carl Laemmie Era
~100 Years of Universal - Unforgettable Characters
~DVD and Digital Copy
