Sandra Bullock, Melissa McCarthy to Star in Cop Comedy for 'Bridesmaids' Director

Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy are teaming for a buddy cop comedy about the strained working relationship between an uptight FBI agent and an unconventional Boston cop.

Bridesmaids' Paul Feig will direct and executive produce the Fox project, which was written by Parks and Recreation writer Katie Dippold. A summer shoot is planned, meaning the project is being fast-tracked to fit into the busy schedules of McCarthy, who stars on CBS' Mike and Molly, and Feig, who is developing several projects.

This will mark a reunion between Feig and his Bridemaids breakout star McCarthy, a best-supporting actress nominee for her comedic role.

At the top of Feig's list is a remake of the hit French comedy The Intouchables, about a quadraplegic aristocrat and his ex-con caregiver. That movie could possibly shoot in the fall. Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Dylan Clark are producing for Chernin Entertainment. The script was optioned out of Chernin's discretionary fund. CAA reps Feig, Bullock and McCarthy.

Bullock won an Oscar in 2010 for the drama The Blind Side but she has also balanced out heavier fare (Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close) with lighter movies like Miss Congeniality and The Proposal.

McCarthy will soon be seen on the big screen in the Judd Apatow comedy This is 40, slated for release in December.
