Toni Collette to Star in Jerry Bruckheimer's 'Hostages' Pilot at CBS

Toni Collette has landed the lead role in Jerry Bruckheimer's Hostages.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the United States of Tara actress will star in the thriller, officially ordered to pilot after initially receiving a production commitment in October.

The project comes from Bruckheimer's Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Warner Bros. TV and is being written and directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff (The Day After Tomorrow). Jonathan Littman, Omri Givon, Rotem Shamir and Chayim Sharir join Bruckheimer and Nachmanoff as EPs.

Hostages follows Ellen (Collette), a Washington, D.C. surgeon who's thrown into a political conspiracy after being chosen to operate on the President of the United States. Her family is taken hostage, and it's her responsibility to save their lives. It is based on an Israeli format by Alon Aranya, Givon and Shamir that was never produced.

Collette won a Golden Globe and an Emmy for her last TV gig, the titular star of Showtime's multiple personalities comedy United States of Tara. The series ended its three-season run in 2011.

This marks the latest pilot order for CBS this season. The network recently announced production on a single-camera comedy from Jim Gaffigan and Peter Tolan as well as Chuck Lorre's Anna Farris comedy Mom.

Collette is repped by WME and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein.
