Kelly Preston to Star in ABC Comedy 'Keep Calm and Karey On'

ABC has found its Karey.

Kelly Preston has landed the starring role on the network's family comedy pilot Keep Calm and Karey On, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The single-camera comedy centers on Karey, the clean-nosed black sheep in a family of petty thieves, drug addicts and narcissists. When her brother is sent to prison, she decides to raise his kids along with her adopted African-American son and give them the normal lives they deserve.

Preston will star as Karey, a vibrant mother to three adopted kids -- including two from her screw-up brother -- who is overwhelmed in her quest to be a good parent to the needy flock who don't always want or respect her input.

Accidentally on Purpose's Andrea Abbate will pen the comedy for 20th Television, with Shawn Levy, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements on board to exec produce. Gail Mancuso will direct.

Preston joins a cast that also includes Dr. Quinn's Jane Seymour as Karey's mother Dotty, and Majandra Delfino (Men of a Certain Age) as Penny, Karey's self-centered sister.

In addition to features Casino Jack, The Last Song and Old Dogs -- opposite her husband John Travolta -- Preston's TV credits include arcs on Medium, Joey, Quincy and For Love and Honor. She's repped by CAA.
