CW Pulls 'Cult' From Fridays

Turns out things can get worse for The CW's Cult.

The freshman dud starring The Vampire Diaries' alum Matt Davis has been completely removed from the network's schedule, according to program listings The CW released Wednesday.

While the network was unclear if the remaining episodes in the series -- which was moved from Tuesdays to Fridays after two weeks on the schedule -- would air, a network source said they might be available on other platforms, though it was unclear where or when that would be.

In the meantime, CW will use Cult's former 9 p.m. Friday slot to air repeats of The Carrie Diaries (April 12) and Oh Sit! (April 19 and 26). Cult's most recent Friday broadcast -- a zero rating and zero share among CW's targeted men-under-35 demo -- rated too low for Nielsen to measure.

"Good news Cult fans! Cult has been renewed for the next ten season due to its brilliant marketing campaign! Good job everyone," star Davis tweeted Wednesday. "All joking aside, thank you to all who watched. It was a wonderful learning experience, and exciting misadventure. On to bigger the better!"

Cult had a mediocre debut when it launched Feb. 19, drawing slightly less than 900,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating among adults 18-49. Its second airing remained relatively even with the premiere in the ad-coveted demo but dropped to about 820,000 viewers.
