Quick Success

Adelaine's first single, "Do or Die", spent a collective 40 weeks on the Billboard Rock Charts.

On the heels of successful hits "Do or Die" and "Take Heart," female fronted rock band Adelaine will soon release their anticipated sophomore effort - Currents.  Comprised of mostly longtime friends since high school, Adelaine is a well-oiled machine both musically and lyrically very early in their career.  Currents will be a welcome addition for fans of the band and may even signal a genre evolution yet to come.

"Bad Blood," appropriately the first single from the upcoming album, is the best of the bunch showcasing lead singer Stormy Pina's infectious voice.  Pina lifts every song on Currents with an emotional, sometimes vulnerable style that seems almost incapable of a diappointing performance.  A touch of anger only seems to improve her vocals as evidenced in "Out of Line" where Pina tells off a guy.  "Let Go” is a good tune reminiscent of Adelaine's previous hits.  The band opens up a pop rock persona with "Every Once in a While" which wouldn't sound out of place on any Top 40 station.  The album closes with the surprising "Home" where Pina's lovely voice is accompanied by a piano.

Adelaine is one of those rare rock bands wanting to be a positive influence to their audience with songs listeners can relate to.  The only downfall is that the majority of Currents blends together with the familiar sound the band is known for.  The only exceptions to that would be "Every Once in a While" and "Home" - both of which could herald a shift to pop.  Regardless of Adelaine's future direction, the band is talented enough to go wherever they see fit.  Pop rock fans should pick this up as well as anyone eager to hear the refreshing sounds of a talented female presence in rock.
