Borgia: The Official Season II Soundtrack

The Borgias were a powerful family that rose to power early on during the Renaissance in Italy. There have been multiple television shows and movies depicting this rise. Debuting in 2011 on Netflix, Borgia has earned a steady following and has currently concluded its second season. If its soundtrack is any indication of the quality of the show, I may be missing out on something special.

The soundtrack to Borgia’s second season contains of mix of high intensity orchestral scores that would fit right at home in an episode of Game of Thrones as well as softer, more angelic tones that are most likely associated with the more dramatic scenes in the show. While I’ve never seen the show before, I can’t help but get a sense of how the show plays out.

What I like about it is that the soundtrack isn’t specifically tied down to the show it represents. There’s no need to be interested in or even aware of the show to enjoy it. I’m not quite sure how much it differentiates from the Season 1 soundtrack, but Season II shines.
