Richard Patrick was once the touring guitarist for Nine Inch Nails. His brother is actor Robert Patrick, best known for his role as T-1000 in Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
Filter traces their history in a best of album reaching from their birth in 1995 to 2008. Includes 14 tracks.
A smart collection of some of the bands best songs with only a few throw away tracks. I’ve never been a huge Filter fan, found Richard Patrick’s voice a bit screechy at times and unfocused but the band does manage to gather some of their most solid work. For me the album works until about the eighth track and then slowly but inevitably falters considerably into the mundane. While the album manages to stay alive with tracks like Skinny and The Best Things the remaining tracks rely heavily on Patrick’s vocal ability which as I have said before is a bit lacking and unfocused. Already established Filter fans should eat this up seeing as how most will want it just as another piece to their collection but most scavengers might do well to purchase some of the best of the album from itunes. Enjoy.
