Parks and Recreation started out as a simple project of turning an abandoned lot turned into park, but by the fifth season, Leslie Knope is the newly elected city council member of Pawnee. With the new job comes new responsibilities as well as new strains on her and Ben’s relationship, especially since he’s working all the way in Washington D.C. No matter, though, because they are in love and wedding bells are a major milestone of Season 5. While big changes are come to nearly everyone within the Parks and Rec department, the show still remains one of the funniest comedies on television.

What makes Parks and Rec so great is its amazing cast of quirky characters. Amy Poehler, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Adam Scott; the list of superb actors could go on. There are also some notable guest appearances, specifically by Vice President Joe Biden and Senator John McCain. They’re brief but memorable. Patton Oswalt also performs one of the greatest filibusters of all time this season, which is worth the DVD price alone. Still, Season 5 doesn’t have the best humor of the series, but it does a pretty great job at keeping the momentum going.

The DVD also features a ton of bonus content in the form of deleted scenes, webisodes, promos, and gag reel. There’s a lot of extra content spread across three discs. For fans, it’s well worth picking up the DVD.

Parks and Rec is still going strong and Season 5 has plenty of great material that is sure to please everyone. The DVD collection is well put together and show that there are still laughs to be had.
