Connect is the new album from the Australian band Sick Puppies, yes I know a very odd name for a band but when it comes to rock & roll odd named bands are the norm. This album features an assortment of genres in the music that Sick Puppies play. Ranging from radio pop rock to some grunge rock, Sick Puppies seem to be attempting to cover different styles in their music. Which is actually something I can get behind and encourage even if the songs are bad, I can respect the attempt in creating something different and not allowing the band to be stuck playing the same beat and song over and over again.

Props can be given to Sick Puppies for recording an album that does play different styles of songs on the one album but I can't say that I liked all of them. While listening to the album I found myself liking every other song on the track list and only a few that I liked instantly. The songs are for the most part all fun, full of energy, and like I said, different from one another. Which I like that the album does have different styles of songs being played and for that the songs that I didn't care much for were made just a little more likeable just because I was only hearing them the one time. What I didn't like about the songs or what made me not like some of the songs is that some where just a little boring when it came to the lyrics and vocals.

With the intense energy, quick beats, and in your face vocals on "Gunfight", I don't understand why the next song "Poison" was slowed down. As I said I went every other song where I liked the song for the strong vocals, the high paced energy it was putting out, and the hard beats being played on the drums and guitar. One thing I noticed about a lot of the songs, mainly the ones that aren't the explicit ones, is that they have a radio sound to them. These are the safe songs, the ones that I found that where the less enthusiastic ones, the songs that I didn't quite like. As for the songs that are the explicit ones, sure they have some cussing in them but they didn't strike me as being that explicit, they just have more of an edge to them then the rest of the songs. But they are the songs that had the most energy in them with some strong vocals. Still though, what Sick Puppies have done on this album is show that a band can play the main style of music but still give the songs a different sound and to test their ability with what they can do with their music and sound.
