Tom Cruise Ups the Ante for 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout'

Tom Cruise has joined Instagram and to mark the occasion he revealed the title of the sixth installment of the Mission Impossible franchise; Mission: Impossible - Fallout.

Fallout once again stars Cruise as special agent Ethan Hunt with Rebecca Furguson, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Michelle Monaghan, Alex Balwin, and Sean Harris all reprising their roles from previous films. New to the franchise are Henry Cavill, Vanessa Kirby, Sian Brooke, and Angela Bassett.

In a second Instagram post, Cruise gives fans a first look at the film with an image of him hanging on the outside of a helicopter, stating "We’ve upped the ante for the sixth #MissionImpossible. I can’t wait for you guys to see more." The shot mirrors the immense plane stunt from Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation in which he literally hung onto the outside of a plane as it took off from a runway.

Cruise is notorious for doing his own stunts, and it was reported that he injured his right leg in an attempt to make a jump on the set of Fallout, halting production for nine weeks while he healed. Henry Cavill also made headlines when he had to do reshoots for Justice League with a full grown mustache that had to be digitally edited out the film at a cost of $25 million because he was already well into filming Fallout and couldn't shave due to to his contract.

Mission: Impossible - Fallout is being directed by Christopher McQuarrie and is scheduled for release on July 27, 2018.

Get ready. #MissionImpossible
