“The Demented” is a horror movie that takes place in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It is about 6 college students on weekend cottage getaway. Everything seems fine and dandy for the group when an unusual event happens that changes their weekend and their lives forever. Things then start to go from bad to worse as the group is doing everything they can to survive. Who survives and what causes all the chaos and madness? You’re going to have to watch “The Demented” if you want to find out.

This movie is full of horror movie clichés and stereotypes, such as foolish college kids, falling when being chased, and bad acting. This movie felt like a poorly written low-budget scaled-down version of “World War Z.” Visually, the special effects were poorly done and outdated. The plot was unoriginal and very predictable. To make matters worse, the cast of unknown actors were amateurish and the dialogue was immature. For instance, if it’s the end of the world, why are you worrying about someone having an affair? There were so many things in the movie that did not make any sense and made this movie unwatchable.

The only saving grace was the music because it was actually not all that bad. Other than that, the movie was not scary in any way, which is pretty bad if this is supposed to be a horror movie. There are so many other good horror movies that have better special effects, better writing, and will actually give you a scare. I was so tempted to turn off the movie numerous times because of frustration, but managed to watch it until the end. I do not in any way recommend watching this movie and for those reasons, I am giving “The Demented” an “F.”
