Andy (Seth Rogan; Knocked Up) is an inventor and a salesman whose making the rounds on an eight day road trip. Along the way he stops off at his mothers house and learns that she had one great love before marrying Andy’s father and becoming pregnant with Andy. Worried that his mother will spend the rest of her life alone, since she hasn’t dated anyone since the death of his father, he decides to track down his mothers first love. The mission comes with considerable ease and Andy devises a plan to take his mother along on his road trip and end it with a face to face meeting with his mothers first love.

Like most road trip films the dup get into a whole scheme of mischief. Andy’s punched in the face, they have car troubles, there’s some drinking involved. The situation is taken to new, awkward, comedy heights as Andy is forced to hear his mother talk about inappropriate things and listen to her odd books on tape selection. Streisand and Rogan unfortunately make for a very odd couple.

I couldn’t help but feel like I was watching Rogan and Streisand in some depressing Ben Stiller throw away flick. Rogan is a jerk, Streisand is actually pretty funny, but it’s grating after only a short while. The film has it’s funny moments but it’s only after being forced to sit through some pretty boring comedic attempts, but mostly Rogan’s character being completely unlikable. Some will love it, others just like, as for me, I could have lived without seeing this film.

PICTURE QUALITY:
The Guilt Trip looks pretty good at times. There are some spots where the camera goes in and out of focus depending on where Rogan and Streisand are and whose doing the talking. It was an interesting and old school camera method that doesn’t seem to have made the transition to the high definition age. It makes the picture look a bit off. There is also not as much utilizing in the color scheme of some serious road trip sights. The Grand Canyon looks rather dull as well as a few other locales. The film passes the test as far as being a decent looking BD but its not perfect.
