What would you do if you had a second chance to get your dream job? Would you take the punishment that would be given you to learn what it takes to do that job? What if you found out that you where just not good enough for that job? The Moment is a new show that will show you that even getting a second chance at your dream job just might be enough for you to actually get that dream job, it will take more out of you than just wanting to do it.
Here is another new reality show with all the normal bells and whistles, well most of all the normal bells and whistles. The Moment is about giving people a second chance in getting their dream jobs where they will be put through some grueling courses that will test their skills. Host NFL quarterback Kurt Warner introduces the people lucky enough to be picked to get a second chance at their dream job before he whisks them away from their safety zones and gets them started on a 2 week training course in attempt to get what they dream of having.

Here’s the slight difference in this show over most of the many reality shows on air now, it makes the people compete with themselves. Instead of going up against some other contestants trying to beat them to make it to the end of the show to win the money, The Moment only has one person on the show going for one goal, their dream job. It’s also a per episode show where there’s a beginning, middle, and end all in the same episode. No dragging it out over 12 or more episodes while having to split the focus on other people doing different things. When you watch this show you get the ending in the same episode allowing you closure without having to wait.

EPISODE 1 SERIES PREMIERE: SPORTS ILLUSTRATED PHOTOGRAPHER:
Ok, you know what the show is about, I now know what the show is about, but does the show have what it takes to get my attention? It kind of did, at least when it comes to reality shows I actually paid enough attention to it to know what was going on. In this first episode it showcases Tracie Marcum as she attempts to get her dream job of being a sports photographer for Sports Illustrated. This interested me because I’m a photographer whose dream job would be to be a stills photographer for films, so, of course I was interested to see what Tracie Marcum would have to go through to get the job. Sadly though, the show focuses more on how she reacts to what she goes through, how her family feels about her doing what she is doing, and then some of what the people who are putting her through the tests think of her. As far as what she had to do to get the job, that’s just skimmed over with just a few very short glimpses before I was given more drama and talking heads.

Even with the topic of this series premiere being interesting to me and it gives me an ending in the same episode, it’s still a reality show doing the same as all reality shows. The way the show is set up is still the same as all the other reality shows, regardless of it having an ending in the same episode and this one having a interesting topic, everything is formatted to give the show as much drama as it possibly can. Each time the show comes to a break it builds up the drama to a high point then goes to commercial break. It also takes the person competing, in this case Tracie Marcum who wants to become a sports photographer, and brings up the problems she has to deal with in her life that might stop her from getting her dream job. Worse yet, instead of showing more of what Tracie Marcum was doing in those 2 weeks, we are shown only 3 of her tests, and in very quick short bursts. I wanted to see what she had to do not be given what all reality shows give, people talking about what they did. The Moment has a better subject matter being that it’s about dream jobs and the odds are there are going to be a few episodes that feature something that’s interesting, but if each episode only focuses on the emotions of what the people are having instead of showing what they did, then this will be put with all other reality shows, not on my list to watch.
