Artist: Brite Futures Album: Dark Past Members: Luke Smith, Shaun Libman, Claire England, David Price Label: Turnout Tracks: 10 Type: Digital Release Date: November 1, 2011 Rating: ( )Grade: A Interesting Tidbits The original name of the band was 'Natalie Portman's Shaved Head" or NPSH. Around 2005, Brite Futures was formed in Seattle, Washington. “Dark Past” is their new album coming out on November 1st. There are a really talented group that is hard to define. They are like a grungier Maroon 5 or a more fun version of the Killers, but not really. You have to hear the album for yourself to truly appreciate their unique sound and feel good vibe. Everything about this album was so hard to describe because it was great in every way. They tried to incorporate everything from 80’s and 90’s to pop, dance, and rock. The songs in general would either make you feel good or make you get up and dance. This album had a lot of good variety to please every audience. The song lyrics were catchy, clever, and memorable. This album was the complete package and will take the band very far if everyone would give them a chance. My favorite songs were “Baby Rain,” “Best party Ever,” “Cosmic Horn,” and “Black Wedding.” “Baby Rain” was a catchy pop tune with funny lyrics and a Maroon 5 vibe. “Best party Ever” is a radio ready song that was well put together and will get everyone dancing at a party. “Cosmic Horn” had a great intro, awesome solos, and a very electronic and futuristic sound. Lastly, “Black Wedding” had an 80’s feel and the vocals were perfect for this song. I added these songs to my ipod right away and think you would too when you listen to them. This was a very well done album that I would highly recommend. If they continue using this formula, I predict numerous hit songs for Brite Futures. I loved the album and I am planning on listening to it again over and over because I thought it was that good. For those reasons, I am giving this album an “A.” |
