Artist: Soundtrack Album: The Hottest State Members: Willie Nelson, Feist, Bright Eyes, Emmylou Harris, The Black Keys, Cat Power, Rocha Label: Hickory Tracks: 18 Type: LP Release Date: August 7, 2007 Rating: ( )Grade: C The Hottest State is an upcoming film involving a young actor from Texas who tries to make it in New York while struggling in his relationship with a beautiful singer. The soundtrack from the film is filled with calm, relaxing beats that will sooth the body. The soundtrack is a combination of different artists ranging from Bright Eyes to Rocha. Judging from what the film is about, I would say that the songs are a good complement to it. They all have their own unique sound, yet carry a similar impression. There are a few songs that really stand out, “Big Old House” to name one, but not enough to warrant a purchase. The album is mediocre at best. It has its moments but it is not that great overall. The soundtrack to The Hottest State brings together many artists; some good, some not. I say that if you like the film enough, the soundtrack may fit your style. It is not something to buy on a whim, though. |
