CLUELESS:
Cher (played by Alicia Silverstone) lives the life of a normal 15 year old high school girl, that is one that lives in Beverly Hills. Being the social queen at her school is not enough as Cher and her best friend Dionne (played by Stacey Dash) give a makeover to the new girl Tai (played by Brittany Murphy). While fighting off the boys, bringing two teachers, together, and having her step-brother to deal with, Cher has to find herself the perfect dress to wear when looking for a boyfriend.

17 YEARS LATER:
Clueless came out in 1995 and after 17 years and though the movie might only have a little amount of charm to it, the content can still be current. It’s a simple plot, the popular, hot, high school girl tries to cope with her life. We’ve all been there, well ok so not all of us have had the Beverly Hills address with the huge mansion and wealth, but being a teen in high school is still the same, regardless of the slang terms being used. It’s this teenage melodrama that makes the movie work as well as being able to still have some appeal even though I’m no longer a teenager.

It’s been a long time since I’ve watched this movie, in fact I think I was a teenage the last time I watched it, but I just didn’t quite enjoy it as much. It could be that I now realize that the movie isn’t that great of a movie to begin with. There’s nothing going on with the plot, the story jumps around from topic to topic, and there’s really no core meaning to the movie. What gives this movie it’s charm are the actors and how well they play off each other. Alicia Sliverstone does a decent job at portraying the rich, high maintenance, popular teen that gets along with nearly everyone. If it wasn’t for the characters Clueless would have been a flop, one I’m betting wouldn’t be getting put on Blu Ray 17 years later.

CLUELESS ON BLU RAY:
Speaking of Clueless being put on Blu Ray, I was a disappointed and a little surprised by the quality of this movie. My first thought was that it wasn’t going to look good at all being that it is 17 years old. I was actually wrong, the picture quality of this Blu Ray is pretty sharp. There’s no grain or noise that I could in the picture, and I was looking for it during with every dark scene there was, and the colors are really sharp and vibrant. I haven’t watched this movie on DVD so I can’t compare it to how it looks but if this were the first time I had watched this movie and I didn’t know it had came out in 1995 I would have thought that it was new. The part I was disappointed with on this Blu Ray was the audio levels. With doing such a good job at transferring over the picture I would have thought that the audio would have been good as well, it wasn’t. The levels on this movie are too low, forcing me to have to turn the volume on my TV set up to 23 so I could hear it.
