“Contraband” is about retired smugglers and best friends Chris (Mark Wahlberg) and Sebastian (Ben Foster). Chris gave up the family smuggling business for his wife, Kate (Kate Beckinsale), and their two kids to start his own alarm security company. Sebastian choose to sober up and start his own construction company. However, they are both pulled back into the crazy world they left behind after Kate’s brother Andy (Caleb Jones) messes up a drug run and has to come up with a way to pay back crime thug Tim Briggs (Giovanni Ribisi), who is ready to kill anyone and everyone to make up for the mistake.

If you love action, a great story, and plot twists, this is the movie for you. The movie is almost 2 hours longs, but there is always something exciting happening and keeping you on the edge of your seat till the movie’s conclusion. The story and the plot twists were well written and kept me guessing until the end. I loved how this movie had such a raw and gritty feel to it that it did not even feel like a Hollywood movie. I also loved the movie’s music because it added so much more emotion and intensity to the scenes. The extras were also useful in giving more insight about the movie and the behind-the-scenes action.

I haven’t seen a movie that was as complete as “Contraband” in a long time. The only thing I did not enjoy was Briggs’ irritating accent. Giovanni did a good job of playing a slime ball, but his accent was very annoying and unnecessary. Unless that was the type of character they were going for, he could have been fine without the fake accent. Other than that, this was a really good movie that I would highly recommend. All the characters were perfectly casted, the story was very gripping, and this was a fun movie to watch. For those reasons, I am giving this movie an “A-.”
