In “George Harrison: Living in the Material World” you get a special inside look at the life of Beatles guitarist George Harrison. This documentary was directed by Martin Scorsese and he takes you on the journey of George’s life from his birth in 1943 to his sad passing in 2001 from lung cancer. “George Harrison: Living in the Material World” has won several awards and is definitely worth a watch whether you are a Beatles fan or not. It is a fitting and well represented tribute to one of the greatest and most memorable guitarist of all time.

I thought this was a very well constructed documentary showcasing the life of George Harrison. They included lots of actual footage and photos from George’s life to show a personal aspect of George’s life. Martin Scorsese also included rare and in-depth interviews with George’s close personal friends and family such as Eric Clapton, Sir Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr to give you a sense of what those close to him truly thought of George. Lastly, they included his performances and his music as the soundtrack for the documentary to give you a feel of what his fans felt or thought about him. Weaving all of these elements together in one documentary gives you a raw, unbiased, and in depth look at the life of George Harrison.

Martin Scorsese did an excellent job with this documentary and he made sure you knew who George Harrison was inside and out by the end of it even if you were not a fan of the Beatles. The bonus features were also a nice extra for those wanting to know even more about George. I highly recommend checking out this documentary and I am giving it an “A.”
