Did You Know?

In the diner scene near the end, the restaurant patrons were supposed to deck Tony Randall, who would fake a reaction to the blow and slide down "unconscious" in the booth seat. However, during filming the actor overestimated his hook and accidentally knocked out Randall for real. The shot wound up being so good that the accidental knockout is the one shown in the film. ~ IMDB

If you’re a fan of the romcom then you’re probably going to want to see this if you haven’t already. A little bit edgy (for that time and place), absolutely hilarious, and filled with chemistry between it’s two leads. Pillow Talk has never looked or sounded better.

PICTURE AND AUDIO QUALITY:

Blu-Ray is a fickle medium. Sometimes you can run across a classic film that isn’t too old, like The Color Purple, and walk away shaking your head that the transfer just didn’t look good at all. Then you come across a film like Pillow Talk, released in 1959, and you couldn’t be happier with how the transfer took. Have no doubt though that Pillow Talk looks absolutely fantastic on Blu-Ray. It’s saturated Technicolor vibrancy is all the more vibrant, definition boosted to give even the most minute detail a glorious upgrade, and clarity is only slightly muddled by small grain disturbances. Audio is just as great with a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono Mix that gives deep resonating output to the musical numbers, especially in Rock Hudson’s deep voice, and allows for dialogue to reach your ears in pristine condition. While I’m hardly a fan of Universal when it comes to their BD transfers I have to hand it to them with Pillow Talk. Magnificent.
