On the band's 1996 covers album Don't stop, Status Quo covered the Beach Boys hit Fun, Fun, Fun. The Beach Boys sang back up on the track.
With 40 Years of Hits under their belts Status Quo took the stage in 2009 at the Montreux Jazz Festival in support of their Pictures tour. The outcome is this excellent BD that will have fans salivating and getting exactly what it is they have been hoping for. Over 240 minutes of concert, documentary, and bonus features will make this one of the most sought after items for Quo collectors.
QUALITY:
Fantastic. There isn’t a frame in the entirety of the concert that merited doubt about the HD quality of the disc and that’s something considering the transfer has a 1080i rating (the second highest rating before 1080p). The documentary doesn’t look so sharp but really the concert is what your there for and it does not let down. Crisp clear picture with excellent definition and color and the audio is equally as fantastic spreading out the instruments on a well placed home theater system.
BONUS FEATURES:
*Quo in Montreaux: A candid look at the band that adds depth to the overall perception who the Quo are.
*Alternate angled version of select performances
*Pictures - Auction: Again a fantastic look at the band that gives them a humbled quality and exudes charm.
*Pictures: The Story of 40 Years of Hits: Almost as long as the concert itself Pictures is a great look at the band from their roots to the current. Lots of interesting facts and information (for an example check out the Did You Know section coming up) as well as some intimate moments with individual members and some great stories about the rock and roll lifestyle.
*Inside the disc there is a 16 page booklet that contains an essay on the band by journalist Mick Wall (When Giants Walked the Earth). The booklet also contains various color pictures of the band.
