“The Adventures of Tin Tin” started out as a comic series that was created in 1929 by Belgian artist Hergé. Tin Tin’s first appearance was in a Belgian newspaper and it was fully in French. Since then, it became the most popular European comic in the 20^th century and it has been translated into more than 50 languages and has sold more than 200 million copies. Tin Tin received so much attention it caught the eyes of Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg, who decided to turn the comic series into an animated movie. “The Adventures of Tin Tin” follows a young Belgian journalist named Tin Tin and his dog, Snowy, as they are thrown into a world of mystery and chaos after buying a model ship that was previously owned by a famous explorer named Sir Francis.

Up until the release of this movie, I have not even heard of Tin Tin or his numerous adventures. However, living in Canada, with lots of French speaking and French-cultured friends, I was given a brief history and up to speed before my review. I can honestly say I was very impressed with everything that had to do with “The Adventures of Tin Tin.” The music was very fitting and added a lot more suspense and emotions to the movie. The computer animations were very well done and so realistic that I thought I was watching a live action movie instead. Everything from Tin Tin’s hair blowing in the wind to the swaying waves of the ocean to the hot sands of the desert looked so life-like and blew my mind.

They also included a lot of extras and it was an overall great story. They included a behind the scenes featurette, a history of Tin Tin, a short film about Snowy, and loads of other bonus material. All the extras were perfect for both long time fans of the series and newbies, like me, that are hearing about Tin Tin for the first time. The story was well written and full of suspense and action from the beginning to end. They also included several comedic moments that were tasteful and fit perfectly into the actual plot. I had a great time watching “The Adventures of Tin Tin” and am highly recommending you watch it, no matter what your age may be. For those reasons, I am giving this movie an A.
