I can talk up the movie for days but, for that, you can read our theatrical review and our standard DVD review. I can also grade down for Paramount’s last minute decision to only release this and all their titles exclusively on HD instead of Blu-Ray but I digress.
Quality:
Immaculate. The sound is loud, booming and rattling and the picture quality is, excuse the pun, out of this world.
Bonus Features:
Disappointing just like the standard DVD release. The standard DVD had to be 2-disc because of the huge amount of featurettes, as does the HD DVD release but, if it were released on the BD format, only one would have been needed. Lacking in any deleted scenes, gag reels or documentaries, the release feels a little dry.
Overall:
Perhaps waiting on a bigger release closer to the release of Transformers 2 in 2009, Paramount opted to not include many special features on this overblown 2-disc set. Possibly waiting to release a 2-disc Blu-Ray title once their exclusive HD contract winds down next year. Either way, it’s a disappointing release for such an amazing transfer and a hugely entertaining movie.
