I remember as a kid my brother and I watched a stand up special from Howie Mandel and he did this little kid voice that we thought was pretty hilarious. Later a cartoon came out that featured Mandel using the same kid voice and the title of that show was Bobby’s World. Really, the show was ahead of it’s time, and after watching it now with my kids (even though their a bit old for it) it remains a relevant show for kids that is filled with imagination, life lessons, and before it’s time character persona’s. I know. You might be thinking that I am out of my mind right now. Really though, the show is great.

What makes Bobby’s World so relevant is that it tackles every day kid problems from being afraid of the dark to dealing with that pesky aunt that likes to pinch your cheeks every time she see’s you to even dealing with sibling issues. When something needs to be handled we take a little trip into Bobby’s imagination where anything and everything becomes possible. If he’s afraid of something he imagines himself being a kung fu master chopping down monsters, but sometimes the fear is too much and even in his imagination he fails. Enter the supporting cast of his family.

Okay so maybe me saying that the characters were ahead of their time was really only a reference to Bobby’s older sister who is a goth/emo kid. Who would have thought the Nostradamus of that ill fated future would have been Howie Mandel. Anyway the rest of Bobby’s family is your basic, with a twist, variety. You have Bobby’s Father, also voiced by Howie Mandel, his Canadian or possibly Minnesota accented Mother, his bully brother, and of course his zany Uncle Ted. When things look tough the show manages to throw at your kids a utopian vision of the family support system that is both endearing and hilarious. There’s just too much to love about Bobby’s World. As an adult I find it nostalgic and fun and for kids, well, times haven’t changed for them. There will always be monsters in their closets, babysitters to fear, and imagination run wild.

The Season 1 set is a whopper. 13 episodes make for a 273 minute run time that will keep your kids busy for months (as long as the servings are dealt in moderation). Repeat viewing will also be in the cards seeing as how the show never got old while I was watching it. All in all it’s an awesome set that I highly suggest for your little ones. Enjoy.
