Only In America With Larry The Cable Guy is a show that follows the comedian to different parts of our country to show us some historical facts about how our country became what it is today, well, sort of. Larry learns how to make moonshine, watches mules breed, goes to the rodeo, and learns about etiquette, well, sort of. The show takes two trips and slots them into one and polishes them off with a bit of Larry’s own blue collar comedy. Needless to say because its mostly the Larry The Cable guy show, not everyone will love this series. Count me as one.

So when I learned this would be one of my assignments I did some snooping over on you tube to see what exactly I was in for and saw that Larry visits Cowboys Stadium to meet the cheerleaders. If you don't already know, I'm a Cowboys fan. Sure, I watched The Blue Collar Comedy Tour and thought it was mildly amusing but I would hardly consider myself a fan of Larry The Cable Guy. Unfortunately because, as I said, it’s basically the Larry Show, everything else gets a bit clouded. Its apparent in the first episode as Larry learns to make Moonshine that he is just a sociable guy who seems eager to get a laugh, but its like the kitchen sink with this guy as his guests try to get in a word edge wise. All I can really remember from this episode is that the alcohol turns to steam then is cooled by cold water and the steam turns back to alcohol, and that they wear funny hats while doing so. Everything else is all awkward joke telling by Larry and the annoyed faces of most of his guests. The only real chuckle worthy moments come from the show biting back: Clowns, a bull warning Larry to back off, and a severed frog head that won't stop fighting.

Oh History Channel what have you done? I remember awhile back George Lopez got into a bit of trouble for calling Kirstie Alley a pig. Oh the pandemonium of the internet as people lashed out to belittle him as a jerk and a woman hater. At various points in this show all I could think was, “WOW”. When Larry visit’s the circus and they show him the elephants he says, “Wow this looks like the cast of The View.” Dang. Or when he’s at a box car racing competition and he tells one preteen boy whose racing a girl, “You could beat her. She shouldn’t even be here. She should be making you a sandwich or something.” Double dang! Then of course there’s the episode where Larry visits some trains and he’s working the gauges on one of the trains and remarks, “I feel like I’m making a bath for Kirstie Alley”. DANG! Its like, at what point History, do you realize that this dude is going to get you sued? There’s just no way of garnering much educational history from this show without doing some damage to your mind. I really, really hated it and I thought, for as insignificant some of these visits really are, was it worth the risk? I highly suggest you avoid unless misogynistic comedy and plain stupidity are what your shooting for. As always final judgment is yours.
