Smith, Elyse Levesque, David Blue, Actors: Robert Carlyle Studio: MGM Runtime: 880 minutes Release Date: May 31, 2011 Format: DVD Discs: 5 Rating: ( )Grade: B+ Bonus Features Cast Interviews, Behind the Scenes, Commentaries, and much more It’s the final season of Stargate Universe and the ship called Destiny, life for it’s crew is just as tough as it was before as they continue their long journey back to Earth. With them being on this mysterious ship billions of light years away from home, the crew of the Destiny has to face unknown threats, personal issues, problems with other crew members, and the possibility of never making it back to Earth. But with the two head crew members always having to face off with each other one which is right, the military way or the civilized way, the crew of Destiny might not be able to survive themselves no less the long trip through space. FINAL FLIGHT OF DESTINY:
Aside from the the good character driven plots of the show, there really is a good underlying storyline that makes the show interesting. Having a crew so far lost in space, which is nothing new but still can be fun to watch, and then having them have all the problems they do just to get back home made for a fun 20 episodes. Though my main objection about a story point is how the crew can have their minds sent to another body on Earth. I get the point of having it in the show, it allows for extra stories that have the characters on Earth and then how they react to being there and then going back to the ship but it felt like a easy way out of writing a better story. I also wasn’t too thrilled with how the show ended but it’s ending at least has a ending. I wasn’t left wondering or at least left in the middle of a plot line where I will never know the outcome. SGU the final season ended up being a fun show to watch and ends well enough where I wasn’t ready to throw the disc across the room. |
