My wife and I watched The Office U.K. back when the only version of The Office was the U.K. version, and even back then I didn’t really care for it. When the show came to the states I gave it a shot, seeing if maybe I would have more in common with a U.S. version. I hated it even more then I disliked the U.K. version. I’ve revisited the show sporadically to try and find the root cause as to why the show is loved by so many people and have never found the key to its success. Season 7 is no different. To each their own.
QUALITY:
The Blu-Ray transfer for The Office Season 7 isn’t bad. You have to keep in mind the style in which the show is shot. Colors range from kind of off to vibrantly clear, mostly vibrant, and sharpness is pretty spot on. Its not perfect but its as close as your going to get with a docu-comedy, and any imperfections somewhat play into the whole scheme of the show. Again, not perfect, but not bad either. Apparently if you own any of The Office on Blu-Ray your getting the same picture and audio quality. Audio was pretty impressive. Mind you the show isn’t going to immerse you completely into an office atmosphere but the little things that stand out, like the busy sound of a keyboard being used, really make the difference. Dialogue is crisp as well.
BONUS FEATURES: (HD)*
~Commentary: A total of five commentary tracks.
~Deleted Scenes and Extended Scenes: This section is just shy of being two hours long so fans should have a lot of fun here. I’ve never seen such a lengthy deleted scene section for a TV series on BD.
~Threat Level Midnight: Full version.
~Webisodes
~Bloopers
~BD-Live: I found this the most impressive out of the whole package. If you own this release you can access Season 8 episodes of The Office through your Blu-Ray player as they premiere on Television. That’s pretty awesome.
