A classic amongst the slew of 80s and early 90s futuristic sci fi type movies, Robocop eventually spawned 2 mediocre sequels, cartoons, action figures and, an impending remake.

The movie also spawned the likes of Peter Weller (seen later in a blistering performance on TV's 24) as well as That '70s Show (and brief Season 7 24 castmember) Kurtwood Smith, who portrayed a horribly bad bad guy responsible for turning Robocop into what he was.  Director Paul Verhoeven went on to direct such great cheesy camp as Starship Troopers, Total Recall and Showgirls.

The $13 million movie, which centers around a lowly officer who was killed and transformed into a robot unknowing of his past self until people and situations begin to trigger his human memory, went on to gross a respectable $53 million in the U.S. after a stellar $8 million opening in the heat of summer 1987.
