Rise Of The Guardians

As children, we grow up with these happy-go-lucky notions of mythical figures including Santa, the Tooth Fair, the Easter Bunny, and the Sandman, afterall, these are the people who deliver joy and happiness to us. What if they really existed and were rough and tough guardians who protected the world from the evil shenanigans of Pitch Black (Jude Law).

North (Alec Baldwin), Bunny (Hugh Jackman), Tooth (Isla Fisher), and Sandy are all Guardians who have been chosen by the man in the moon to keep children believing in them. That means delivering presents on Christmas for North, hiding eggs on Easter for Bunny, and putting a quarter underneath a child’s pillow for Tooth. So long as the children believe in them, they continue to remain alive. That won’t be the case for long as Pitch Black devises an evil plan using Sandy’s dreaming sand to turn said dreams into nightmares and disrupt the Guardians.

To turn the tide in their favor, the man in the moon brings a new Guardian to the team; trickster Jack Frost (Chris Pine). The other Guardians are weary of Jack but they’re not ones to question the man in the moon. Can Jack rise to the occasion or will Pitch spread his darkness across the world?

Rise of the Guardians gives the holiday heroes a new edgier look. North, for instance, sports bulging muscles and tattoos instead of his typically fat and jolly appearance. He also has a team of yeti minions to help him out with his toy making duties. It’s not all about action, though, as there’s also plenty of humor.

The dynamic between the Guardians and Jack Frost lends itself to some humorous confrontations, especially with Bunny. Hugh Jackman brings his Australian attitude to the character, making him standout well among the Guardians.

Kids and adults alike will find something to enjoy in Rise of the Guardians. The film looks absolutely beautiful and the 3D isn’t too shabby either. While the story is predictable, it’ll keep the kids’ attention which is a success for any parent. With an all-star voice cast as well, Rise of the Guardians delivers the feel good film of the holiday season.
