Talk about Spiderman, Books to Read, and Random Thought

NEWS HAPPENING IN THE COMIC BOOK WORLD:
Marvel Now has begun, with titles like Iron Man, Deadpool, and A Plus X out, it's not much longer before what I thought would never happen, happens. That is the ending of my favorite title, The Amazing Spider-Man. Now I know over the years the book has been renumbered but it still continued on but on December 26, 2012, we will see the very last issue of The Amazing Spider-Man with issue #700. Before you start screaming, like I did and still kind of continue to do, Spidey will live on in the new title called Superior Spider-Man.

Let me state I don't like this move, at all. First off why cancel the best title? What's the point in it? To bring up sales? Oh, that's right to keep the character fresh and interesting.
Bull Hockey!
That's right I'm so not happy with this move that I can only curse in lame terms.
Here let me explaing why.
That's right look at this new version of Spider-Man. What's with the claws on the ends of his fingers? There's also claws on his big toes too. He has some black in the suit, he seems to be angry or mean maybe, and this is supposed to be the updated version. Funny though how he looks similar to Spider-Man 2099, just minus the red spider design of the suit.

I can understand wanting to keep the character fresh but one of the reasons Spider-Man is so popular is because of the way he is. That is the core of the character of Peter Parker/Spider-Man not any of the side plots that happen in the book. If Marvel wants to keep the character fresh, then make him go back to being unemployed, or maybe stick with the idea of making him young again (as in early 20s to mid 20's) but don't give him a job at one of the most prestigious science labs in the country. Allow the character to be more free with his time like most guys are at that age where he might only be working a part time job but instead of just hanging out with friends and going out clubbing he's hanging out with other superheroes and he's going out clobbering (ha like that play on words). It don't have to take making the character look mean or to start adding new powers to him to have him stay fresh. Though, the book hasn't came out yet and I will always buy Spidey so if I do end up liking this new direction I'll state so.
Oh one last thing, why the title change? Wouldn't it have been just as good to have kept the core book Amazing and added a new title with Superior?

COMICS IN THE MOVIES AND TELEVISION:
Speaking of Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man movie came out on Blu Ray/DVD/Digital Copy today (Friday November 9, 2012 if you are reading this after today). Most of the prices for the movie are the same, give or take a few dollars but there are different deals the stores are offereing. Now I don't know all of them and I'm not really going to search the net for all the different deals stores are offering but I do know the top 3 retail chains offers. For Target it's a bonus disc, Best Buy has a steel case, and Wal Mart is giving a Spider-Man mask case for the DVD (which also has a bonus disc in it).

UPCOMING TITLE THAT LOOKS PROMISING:

Artist: Michael Avon Oeming

BOOK TO READ THIS WEEK:
X-Factor #246
Writer: Peter David
Artist: Leonard Kirk

RANDOM THOUGHTS BY ME FROM ME:
Here's another random thought I've been having about Thor. Recently I was reading the series Marvel Zombies Destroy. There was the usual plot, zombies have destroyed an alternate world, heroes from Earth 616 are sent to fight them, and they end up in trouble where some survivors will help them out. Difference in this case is that the one helping is none other than Loki.
Seeing him here in this title got me wondering, are there alternate Asgardians? I've always assumed that Thor and the rest of the Asgardian gods where the only ones. Though they may mainly stay at Earth 616, they still have the ability to travel to other worlds in other realities. I mean can't Mjölner (Thors hammer) create portals to other dimensions? I'm assuming that Belfrost (the rainbow bridge) would allow travel to all these alternate realities.
But I guess not if there is a zombie Thor and the rest of the Asgardians being zombies in the Marvel Zombie series while Thor of Earth 616 remains fine.
