Halcyon Co., owners of the Terminator franchise, have announced that they are working with Terminator Salvation director McG on a fifth addition to the franchise. The announcement came at the Dubai International Film Festival. Halcyon heads Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek purchased the rights tot he franchise from C2 and planned to reboot the franchise as a trilogy. Salvation star Christian Bale has signed on to star as John Connor in all 3 films. Terminator 5 is slated for release in 2011. Halcyon has originally planned on waiting until summer '09 to make a decision on a sequel, presumably to see how Salvation performed in theaters and on DVD but they decided to act now based on positive fan reaction to the footage that has been released. "We feel the time is now to start shaping the next part of this," Kubicek said. Terminator Salvation is set to hit theaters May 22, 2009. Check out the trailer here. |
