Piers Morgan will not be returning to America's Got Talent when the NBC show returns next year. "I'm leaving America's Got Talent after 6 wonderful years. Turned out that juggling's harder than it looks, so I'm going to focus on CNN," the British host tweeted to his 1.4 million followers Wednesday evening. The news comes a year and a half after Morgan reupped with the Simon Cowell created talent competition. Some two months later, he signed on to replace Larry King in CNN's coveted 9 pm hour, hosting a long-form interview series featuring an eclectic mix of politicians and celebrities. “It’s been a weird experience to go from interviewing [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu in Jerusalem and then coming back and doing a couple days of auditions,” Morgan told THR of the balacning act last spring, adding, “But I like it.” The series, which saw Howie Mandel take over for David Hasselhoff in 2010, has proved one of few bright spots on NBC's schedule in recent years. Excluding the net's April entry The Voice, Talent, which also counts Sharon Osbourne as a judge, was the No. 1 reality show this past summer. |
