B+
Running Time:
105 Minutes

There were two movies revolving, in some way, around Jane Austen that came out at the same time unto an audience that would rarely be interested in even one (see also Becoming Jane).  Being the (generally) better reviewed but less commercial of the two, Club is an engrossing story about love set against the backdrop of a book club about, who else, Jane Austen.

QUALITY:
Good.  The quality of the picture outshines the quality of the sound by a mile as some of the softer dialogue is drowned out by ambient noise.

BONUS FEATURES:
Commentary, featurettes and deleted scenes.

OVERALL:
A decent movie starring a who’s who of, well, relatively unknown “known’s” like Kathy Baker, Maria Bello, Marc Blucas, Amy Brenneman, Maggie Grace and Emily Blunt.  While the biggest commercially known actor may be Jimmy Smits, this probably only adds to the movie’s charm.
