Jason Mewes (King of the Nerds)

Jason Mewes: The Interview (King of the Nerds)
Interesting Tidbits

Jason is close friends with "Green Day" front man Billie Joe Armstrong.

Jason Mewes has starred in numerous movies such as “Clerks,” “Dogma,” and “Zack & Miri make a Porno.” He also has done various side projects and online shows such as “Spoilers” for Hulu. However, he is most known for being the loud and outspoken half of the comedic duo known as “Jay & Silent Bob,” with Jason being better known as “Jay.” On Thursday, February 7th at 10pm on TBS, Jay & Silent Bob will be guest judges on a reality competition called “King of the Nerds” to help America try and find the ultimate nerd that will win both bragging rights and the $100,000 prize. Shakefire had a chance to interview Jason and talk about the show, super powers, and videogames.

Shakefire: Hey Jason! How are you doing today man? I am such a huge fan and loved you guys in “Dogma” and “Clerks.”

Jason Mewes: Hi Paul! Thanks a lot! I’m happy you loved the movies and the work I’m involved in.

SF: No problem Jason. My first question for you is how did you get involved with “King of Nerds?

JM: The show producers approached me and Kevin (Silent Bob) and asked us to be on the show. They knew we were both comic book fans for more than 20 years and had a lot of knowledge and experience in that area. We were both excited to do the show.

SF: How long have you known Silent Bob (Kevin Smith)?

JM: A really long time. I would say about or more than 25 years.

SF: That is a long time. What similarities or differences are there between you and Jay?

JM: He is a very similar persona of my younger self and a big part of who I am. However, since I am older and a bit more mature now, there are some differences between the two. When you get older, you can’t always get away with as much and some things are toned down a bit.

SF: I can see where you are coming from on that statement. Besides Silent Bob, who is your dream co-star?

JM: Wow man! That’s a good question. There are lots of people and I have a long list of dream co-stars. Kiefer Sutherland would be up there on the list though. I love Jack Bauer and “24” was such a great show.

SF: If you could have any super powers, what would they be?

JM: I wish I could fly on my own. I love to travel, but hate flying. It would be more convenient for me if I could fly there on my own and might be a lot faster too.

SF: Which celebrity would be your ideal arch-enemy?

JM: I can’t remember his name, but he played Sherlock Holmes on the BBC version of the show.

He is an amazing actor and I would love to match wits with him. I think his name was Benedict Cumberbatch.

SF: What videogames are you playing these days?

JM: “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2” for sure. They have some new maps that came out this week and I’m a bit bummed because I’m in Colorado for several shows. I can’t wait play them when I get back home.  There is also a “Justice League” app I play a lot on my Ipad. You can play as Superman, Batman, and the other DC characters. I also play “DC Universe Online” and the Lego games.

SF: Wow! You are quite the gamer too! What upcoming projects can we expect to see from you in the near future?

JM: There is a “Jay & Silent Bob” cartoon movie coming out soon and is about 70 minutes long. I also have my Youtube show and channel. I also have several movie projects coming up such as “Money Shot,” “Vengeance,” and “Devil’s Tower.”

SF: You are a busy guy! Well, thank you Jason for talking with me today. I can’t wait to see you on the show and your upcoming projects.

JM: Thanks a lot Paul! Happy you are a fan and for your continued support. Take it easy man!
