Femme Fatales

Femme Fatales return in its second season and I have to say, after reviewing the first season, nothing much has changed other then the fact that show is now slotting in some better known actors and actresses . Eric Roberts (Heroes), Vivica A. Fox (Independence Day), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers), and Jeff Fahey make the rounds this time. Unfortunately all these B list names can’t bring up the caliber of the show.

In the last season I was fortunate enough to have at least one episode that was great (Speed Dating). In this season I hated every last episode. Take away the sex scenes, the shows gimmicky hook, and every single story in this season is just borrowed from some other more popular story that’s been done.

The first episode, Family Business, has four sex scenes. Mind you three of them come at you back to back to back. Minus that and you barely have a story that makes any sense, but at least a couple of the actors on the show hold their own.

Jump ahead a few episodes, Bad Science, a episode I thought would be cooler then it was. The synopsis compares it the episode to Twilight Zone and Terminator. Really? Terminator because when a naked woman pops up in a flash band energy ball she emulates Arnold Schwarzenegger’s arrival into the future. Comparing that with this is a major stretch. Leaving it at Twilight Zone works though.

A handful of scientists invent a machine that can transport one inorganic piece of matter to another location (think The Fly). When the money man wants to close down the operation and put the machine on the market the lead scientist (Ashley Noel; The Telling) tries to encourage him to wait so that she can perfect it so that human subjects can use it, not a safe bet since all the animal tests have resulted in death, but the money man says no. She tries it anyway. When she uses the machine on herself she ends up in an alternate universe and on her return accidentally brings back her doppelganger.

The episode stars Robert Picardo of Star Trek fame and the special effects are done by Adam “Mojo” Leibowitz of  Battlestar fame, but the episode only manages to parrot great sci-fi and fails to envelope you with its terrible acting and repetitive sex scenes.

Pretty much every episode is the same here. Weak storyline, horrible acting, repetitive and sometimes laughable sex scenes. Don’t get even get me started on the host of the show. She seems very unnecessary and tries to hard to be sexy and fails. So, yeah, basically everything I said about season one remains true, minus there being one episode in the lot to make this show worth watching. As always final judgment is yours.
