The sixth season of The Vampire Diaries was a big deal for fans of the series as it featured massive changes for the two most popular characters; Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev). Their love was put to the test as Damon was trapped in an alternate dimension while Elena struggled to continue living on without him, even going so far as to get compelled to forget him. The sixth season is also significant because it marks the end of Dobrev’s run on the show. The entire season, and much of the series itself, is all about how these character can and cannot live without each other. It seems like the perfect preparation for Season 7.

QUALITY:

The quality of the Blu-ray is great and really captures the small town feel of Mystic Falls and its neighboring locales. The colors are somewhat faded and dull, but that fits well with the dark and bleak theme of the world they live in. The Vampire Diaries doesn’t have that high quality feel that you see on premium cable channels, but the Blu-ray transfer gets pretty darn close.

BONUS FEATURES:

  • Good Bite and Good Luck
  • Best. Reaction. Ever.
  • 2014 Comic-Con Panel
  • Come Visit Georgia PSA
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Gag Reel
  • Audio Commentary

Fans are definitely going to get a kick out of The Complete Sixth Season’s bonus features. In addition to the usual deleted scenes, gag reels, and audio commentaries there are some decent featurettes. “Good Bite and Good Luck” is an emotional sendoff and thank you to Nina Dobrev as she departs from the show and “Best. Reaction. Ever.” is a fun compilation of fan reactions from social media. There’s also the panel presentation from Comic-Con 2014 that dives into the season, although since it was before it aired there’s a plenty of secrecy in their answers. It’s kinda fun to watch looking back on the season.

The Vampire Diaries: The Complete Sixth Season has been carefully crafted with the fans in mind and they even play a prevalent part in its special features. It’s one worth adding to your collection.
