This revisit to Ironman’s beginnings boasts of computer assisted environment animation and fairly decent artwork but suffers somewhat due to twitchy character animation and some pretty generic story elements.

In this case generic isn’t necessarily bad it’s just…well…generic. If Ironman were a product in a superhero grocery store he would be a can with a plain yellow label and red lettering that reads “Imitation Batman”, so having a story that is less than spectacularly creative is par for the course. Cotton candy-like inflatable metal, elemental powers from eastern mysticism, and more can be found here if you’re willing to give it a chance.

Overall this is worth checking out if you would otherwise be channel surfing or feeding the homeless or involved in some other useless activity. I wouldn’t call a gang of friends over for it unless you all think Ironman is the shit, in which case you’ll all probably get more out of it than I did.

The special features aren’t especially potent but they are worth investigating. You get an alternate opening, a 12 minute video interview with production crew, concept artwork, a trailer gallery, a breakdown of 15 armor sets and their functions, and a glimpse at the opening of the future release “Doctor Strange”. If you have to choose between watching these and dousing a stranger who is on fire I’d go with the stranger. If you happen to be watching the movie anyway take a few minutes and check these out.
