Tyler Perry does it again in the theme of his previous plays of showing a comedic but intimate look into the African-American family life.  He takes us inside his newest character Auntie Bam, played by Cassi Davis who co-stars in House of Payne as the mother.  In this stage play made for television, it portrays Auntie Bam as the quick-witted Auntie of Stewart, which is actually Bam’s nephew-in-law.

Auntie Bam is actually the Aunt of Stewart’s ex-girlfriend.  Stewart finds himself living with Aunt Bam along with his new girlfriend.  He is separated from the Bam’s niece and the story show how they have to communicate to raise their two children.  The niece says that Stewart is a bad father to their children because secretly she wants him back and apparently she thinks this will be the way to win him over.  He is able to keep a close relationship with his daughter but his son is sides with his mom.

Now Stewart’s new woman is younger but she portrays a more loving spirit than his ex.  The story gets interesting when Aunt Bam reveals to him that her niece has put a ‘root’ on him. Because his shoes were nailed to the floor by her bedside and a lock of the other woman’s hair was found under her niece’s bed as well.  So from reading this, you can imagine the comedy antics throughout the play.

So the story shows how Stewart is trying to raise his children but still trying to balance his new relationship along with getting along with his ex, enough to relieve drama.  Auntie Bam’s Place is a good movie. For any Tyler Perry stage play lover, this would make a great addition to your collection.  In tradition with his other plays, I can see this concept becoming another hit-making sitcom from Tyler Perry.  One thing you can always expect, from Tyler: the actors/actresses always act their parts very well but they sing very well too.
