It’s way too long of a movie that makes it boring to watch, even with a good job of acting skills that Jim Sturgess does with the character of Jamie Morgan. I was really impressed with his range for this character who has a rough life of being an outcast then turning into a man who has no care in the world to having to show how his world is ending. It’s a wide range of emotions that Jim Sturgess has to show in this movie and he is shown in the majority of the movie with little support from the other actors. I did find it kind of odd how little screen time the other actors are given in ‘Heartless’. Clemence Poesy seems to be on screen for just a few scenes, and even less time for the other actors who seem to get only minutes of screen time. Though each of the all do a good job of acting, with the exception of Joseph Mawle who I just didn’t like his portrayal of the character Papa B.
What makes me not like this movie even with a good idea of a story and the acting being good, is the flow of the action and the length of the movie. It takes way too long to get the main topic developed and by the time I knew what all was going on I was bored. I just couldn’t get interested in the movie at all no matter how much I wanted to be. There’s some decent cinematography used in ‘Heartless’ that gives the film a nice suspenseful feel to it. Even with the gruesome scene of the death I was feeling it was too little way too late for it to make difference to the movie. |
