The next installment of the Scholastic Storybook Treasures series is The True Story of The 3 Little Pigs! Included are five stories; The Pigs’ Wedding, Wallace’s Lists, Henry Builds A Cabin, This Is The House That Jack Built, and of course the title story. Bonus features include Interviews with The Story of the 3 Little Pigs!, Author Jon Scieszka and Illustrator Lane Smith, Read-Along Feature, and Discussion Questions.

The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs! is in my opinion not the strongest installment of the Storybook Treasures series. The title story is narrated by Paul Giamatti (Sideways) and is one that has been seen in at least one other installment of this series that I’ve seen. It’s an interesting story and a good one for people who don’t already own it on DVD. Wallace’s Lists is an exceptionally good story narrated by Zac Braff (Scrubs). I worried that Braff’s usual baby talk voice over work would ruin the story for me but it’s a really good story about life’s little adventures and how to embrace them. This Is the House that Jack Built, Narrated by Mandy Patinkin (The Princess Bride) is decent fun in a checklist kind of way. The remaining stories; The Pigs’ Wedding and Henry Builds A Cabin are pretty flat, boring, a detour from the fun that is mostly from Wallace’s Lists and The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs. I think the main problem was that those two particular stories were fashioned with an outdated animation style and the narration was a bit drab. Like I said, its just not the strongest installment and makes for a repeat viewing for only two stories found in its collection.
