Title: You Again Genre: Comedy Starring: Kristen Bell, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sigourney Weaver, Odette Yustman, Betty White Director: Andy Fickman Studio: Touchstone Pictures Runtime: 105 minutes In Theatres: September 24, 2010 MPAA Rating: Rating: ( )Grade: B For many, high school wasn't the greatest of experiences. There was always that yearning to be accepted. For Marni (Kristen Bell), she was at the rock bottom of her class. She wasn't popular, didn't have the looks, and for the most part went completely unnoticed. Years have past and she has grown into the complete opposite of what she was back then. On her return home for her brother's wedding, she finds out that Joanna (Odette Yustman), the bride to be, is actually the same person who tormented her all throughout high school. Now she must find a way to warn her brother about the mistake he is about to make. If that wasn't enough, Marni's mother Gail (Jamie Lee Curtis) had a similar relationship with Joanna's aunt, Ramona (Sigourney Weaver) back when they were in high school. Old habits do indeed die hard. You Again has something for all ages. Older generations will enjoy the quarrels between Gail and Ramona while the younger generations will get to have fun while watching Marni and Joanna have at it. There's always some type of devious plot going on, whether it's trying to outshine one another or get them to confess their wrongdoing. You'll laugh at practically everyone at some point. It's the supporting actors such as Betty White and Billy Unger who will usually have you in stitches. Then again, how can anyone NOT enjoy any film or show with Betty White in it . I've never been a huge fan of Kristen Bell but she manages to put on a convincing performance. She manages to perfectly portray a high school student at the beginning and despite her ditsy persona, you do feel sorry for her at times. Odette Yustman seems to put on her best Megan Fox impression throughout the film. That means looking sexy and well, that's about it. Going on pure entertainment value, You Again will keep you satisfied for close to two hours. There are plenty of funny scenes, and you'll love the interactions between Marni and Joanna and Gail and Ramona. Things do get a bit ridiculous towards the end but that can be expected. It's just a shame we didn't get to see more of Betty White and Cloris Leachman. |
