Battlefield Detectives has long been one of my favorite shows on the History Channel. The premise is that the show takes a battle and goes over it with a fine tooth comb providing feedback from experts of all associated fields to visiting the places in which each battle took place. There is hardly a moment in the show where you are not being fed some vital piece of information from any number of historians and or experts.

The show has previously been released as individual titles and I believe that this is the first time that the show has been given a collections release. In this collection you have 9 Historic Battles including Waterloo, Custer’s Last Stand, 2 episodes on Gallipoli, Vietnam and more. You get an explanation of how the event came to be, the two sides, what their plan of attack and defense was, the equipment they used and how each was affected by the natural elements of the area, the mind set of the soldiers on both sides, and so much more. There are also some reenactments and stock footage to add more depth to the experience. You absolutely cannot go wrong with this series as it spares no expense and wastes no seconds in delivering the richest, most detailed experience possible.
