I’ll be blunt with this review, as more of a parent and consumer then as a critic. When I saw this beautiful looking box set of Dora DVD’s I thought that it was going to be a decent collection of holiday themed episodes. As you can see on the cover you have Dora and bundled up for winter time festivities with Christmas themed reds and greens, as well as some snowflakes decorating the background, plus a To and From spot on the cover. That was endearing to me and I imagined one of my nieces or nephews receiving this box set and seeing their name printed on the cover and all the adventures on the back of the box. Then I started doing some digging in an effort to offer up the best review possible for this release.

For starters the box only shows the covers of each individual DVD with no listening of what can be found on each. Looking into it I found that not only were these discs older releases from 2009-2010 but that two of them only had one holiday themed episode, Dora’s Big Birthday Adventure having none, though I do acknowledge that the set is called "Celebrate" With Dora so that fits. I felt slighted a bit anyway. Was the decision to keep the episode listings off the case intentional so that people would buy the set and realize only after it was to late that they weren’t get as much holiday fun as they had hoped? Secondly, seeing as how the discs were dated already, if you were so inclined, you could simply buy the individual titles used for considerably cheaper. According to my math, for Like New condition copies from Amazon, which officially sells the set new near $20, you can get them all, without the box, for a little over ten bucks. I’m sorry, but to me it just seemed like a bit of false advertisement repackaging already released DVD’s that feature, among all of the episodes in all three discs, just two holiday themed shows. Of course if your just looking for Dora herself have a ball. I still say going used would be cheaper, but some people want the definitive package. As always final judgment is up to you.
