Ghost Hunters returns in its 5th season on syfy to bring you more chilling experiences and, with the aid of science and logic, explanations to shed a little light on the dark. Join Jason, Grant, and the rest of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) as they visit Maryland’s Mudd House (famous for being a pit stop for John Wilkes Booth on his escape route following Lincolns assassination) and Virginia’s Edgewood Plantation where the team unearths some interesting discoveries. Catch the all new season beginning August 19th at 9 PM ET/PT only on syfy.

I’ve been roped into so many paranormal shows; Paranormal State, Ghost Adventures, Most Haunted, some show with kids who have paranormal gifts, and of course the non-reality variety such as A Haunting. I watch because everyone else in my house has to watch but that doesn’t mean that I sit there and just take it. I grind my teeth when a psychic becomes possessed or when a landmark owner lays it on thick or when a member of the team starts trash talking a ghost or simply freaks out for effect. Honestly it just fuels the fire for me and I can’t keep my mouth shut. Ghost Hunters is a show that stands out above the rest simply for not pulling these novelty acts. The team goes in looking to debunk and explain the unexplainable without fanfare and when all is said and done , if they don’t find anything, they let the owners know, and even if they do they don’t lay it on thick with assumptions to make a mountain out of a molehill. I like that kind of honesty and integrity. Am I totally removed of my skepticism? I’ll admit I have my moments of doubt but I don’t totally feel as if I’m being lead.

The two season premiere episodes that I watched, right off the bat, these episodes attest to my remarks above. The team gathers some pretty remarkable evidence as they encounter a home haunted by what may very well be an Inhuman Entity (as the episode title states) but along the way some serious debunking goes on as well which gathers from logic, experience, and scientific method to determine what is paranormal and what is not. The second episode, I Am Not Guilty, is a must see for fans of the paranormal though. Even I, a hard to appease skeptic, found it pretty awesome and again the team pulls together to dig up information that really makes quite a difference debunking and bringing to light testimonies left by other people who have had experiences in that particular locale. For that reason I remain a fan of the show. Don’t forget to check it out when it airs and enjoy.
