Jean Price (Penelope Keith, To the Manor Born, Good Neighbors) has just been elected Member of Parliament for the left-wing Labour Party. Now her real work begins: getting along with her chauvinist fellow MPs while navigating the Machiavellian world of Westminster. As Tory snob Sir Godfrey Eagan (George Baker, The Ruth Rendell Mysteries) tells her—a bit too gleefully—“Parliament is Parliament, tradition is tradition, and rules is rules.”

Jean is determined to fight for her convictions, which include more opportunities for women. She finds herself stymied by Parliamentary procedures, surrounded by swollen egos, and frequently lobbied by her constituents. Meanwhile, her husband, Geoff (Mark Kingston, Shine on Harvey Moon), provides moral support but disapproves of her long hours, joking that MP stands for “missing person.” Directed by John Howard Davies (Fawlty Towers, Mr. Bean), this set includes all three series of the witty Britcom seen on public television.
