Very disappointed with Quentin

I just returned from seeing IBs and was very disappointed. I was hoping to see something with the intelligence and layered quality is in the Kill Bills. This was just flat all around. . . flat characters, flat storyline, flat dialogue.
None of the characters were followed close enough to want to know more of them; Brad's persona was so uninteresting and was only as deep as his far over-rehearsed accent. The only half-way interesting character was the main SS guy (played by an unfamiliar actor).
The story seems to have been one of revenge; perhaps a fantastical dream of how the Jews could have won the war with what they were good at at the time: movies. However, those who deserved the revenge, in the end, never got to see their labor reach its fruition. Just felt like you were left hanging. I really missed that checklist with names being crossed off. This just missed out on a lot that it could have been.
There was also no intelligently placed moments of that crazy dark humor that I'm used to from Quentin. Even the cinematography was boring and bland.
Oh well, at least the theatre I saw it in only charges 5 bucks. But I still can't help feeling being ripped off by an old friend!
