Loren is currently recording his debut album with producer Steve Jordan who has previously worked with John Mayer and Eric Clapton.

In support of his Reckless Days/Endless Night Tour, singer-songwriter Loren Benjamin has released a self-titled acoutic EP with six of his favorite tracks.  With an influence revolving around the music of the '60's and '70's and a knack for harmonious lyrics, Benjamin is someone to keep an eye on in the musical landscape.

The looking-for-love anthem "Somebody" kicks off the EP and showcases Benjamin's talent for writing simple, yet elegant lyrics capable of connecting with a mass audience.  His inspiration from classic songwriters like Elton John, Billy Joel, and even Bruce Springsteen is evident here.  Benjamin doesn't stray far from common themes, but at the same time doesn't pigeonhole himself to a particular one.  The EP has songs about love ("Somebody"), loss ("Golden Chain"), and post-breakup loneliness ("Midnight in the City").

Benjamin is a joy to listen to on "Reckless Days/Endless Nights" - his own version of a party song about letting loose and having fun.  Much like "Somebody," listeners will find themselves singing along as early as the second chorus.  I'm happy to report that, after checking out some of his YouTube videos, Benjamin sounds just as good live as he does recorded.  In contrast to the EP, Benjamin typically leads on his guitar and sometimes even rocks out à la John Mayer.  Not often do you find someone talented on the guitar go sit at the piano and completely change the mood with songs of lament ("Midnight in the City").

Although his current tour is almost complete, Benjamin will be playing July 7th at Rockwood One in New York.  He regularly plays at the downtown bars, so I highly suggest readers in the NYC area check him out.  You'll be glad you did.

The acoustic EP is available exclusively at NoiseTrade
