When your CD only contains 2 songs those songs better be the best you go because they will have to be instantly liked. The band The Stone Foxes have put out their new CD Psycho that features 2 songs, Psycho and Serious People. Both songs are just over three and half minutes long, which I suppose is just enough time to hear what needs to be heard in the songs. Though, I would have preferred a few more songs to get a better idea about what this band is about I didn’t have that luxury.

With there only being 2 songs on this CD I figure this band could either be really good where all their songs sound like these 2, or they could be a one hit wonder where they took their best 2 songs to put on here. In either case I only had 2 songs and with those 2 songs I found myself liking what I was hearing. It’s not a quick, instant liking to the songs, but I did find myself enjoying thesound being generated by the instruments by the time I had heard the songs for the third time. Though the band is labeled as a alternative band the song Psycho sounds more like a alternative rock/country song with the tempo going around three normal beats before that hard hitting beat. It has the up and down tempo that gives the song some energy to it. Adding on to the energy is the lyrics which are pretty simple, “She’s a psycho”, there’s nothing too deep about listening to either one of these songs actually.

Though what I found a little annoying was with the song Psycho was that the vocals were way too synthesized for my taste. It sounded like the guy was singing out of a tin can, didn’t make the song any better just annoying. Considering that with the second song, Serious People, the vocals of Aaron Mort are strong, smooth, and has a good pitch to it that flows well with the ups and downs of the beat during the song. He could have done a better job if he had taken out that sound machine sound in Psycho and just used his voice like it is on Serious People, and the song would have came out sounding better and less annoying. With only 2 songs on this CD, The Stone Foxes have picked 2 songs that are well played, with a good amount of energy to them, they have good beats to them, a decent tempo that fits well with the lyrics, and vocals that sounded pretty decent. Though what I found odd about this CD was how on the back cover it lists the songs as A side and B side, with it being a CD there is no B side, just a thought.
