Title: AVP - Alien Vs. Predator Genre: Action/Adventure, Sci-Fi Starring: Sanaa Lathan, Lance Henriksen, Raoul Bova Director: Paul W.S. Anderson Studio: 20th Century Fox Runtime: 101 minutes Release Date: January 25, 2005 Format: DVD Discs: 1 MPAA Rating: Rating: ( )Grade: C+ A huge discovery has been made under the ice of Antarctica, and as a team goes into investigate a startling discovery is made. An ancient pyramid is found and seems to be some form of battle ground. Even more startling is it seems that it is being put to use. Now the battle between two of the best know and deadliest aliens is about to begin with a few poor humans trapped in the center. I am a huge Predator fan (and I know I am out numbered) so of course I was cheering for them (but I am not going to give away the end of this movie). However I was slightly disappointed in the movie and I think people on both sides will be. First they made this movie Rated PG-13 instead of R; a big mistake in my book. Next there are very few actual fight scenes between the Predators and Aliens which is the whole reason I watched this movie. The few fights there were ended quickly, or cut away during, or it was so dark that it was hard to make out anything. The majority of the story revolved around the humans, and while some of that is interesting it was not what the movie should be about (it isn’t titled Humans doing their thing with a few Alien vs. Predator fights happening). The bonus features include the typical commentary, deleted scenes, and making of feature. There is also both the theatrical and extended (new beginning) versions, the comic book gallery, and a DVD-Rom feature with the first edition of the comic book, comic book background study, and a 16 page preview of the up coming AVP novel. My suggestion is rent this movie to see the few fights; but it is not worth buying. |
